The item with the metal teeth reminded me of one of those afro picks from the 1970s. It could easily have dug through the mass of tiny curls on my head back in the day.
But this wasn’t a hair pick, not even close. It had nothing to do with hair, and I could not have fathomed a guess just by looking at it. Fortunately, it was still in the box, which gave up the secret of its name and its purpose.
The item had a black handle that appeared to be Bakelite, and it looked as if it had never been used. It was a kitchen utensil and was a very functional and efficient item in the early 20th century – and possibly even now.
Can you guess what it is? Click on the photo below to see if you are correct.
It is likely a Cake Cutter, not a K-Cutter; which is what we used for our hair. I found this because I’m looking for an old-school K-Cutter, but a full metal one. I keep finding these cheap plastic ones – My hair to too tough for them 🙁
