The questions were plentiful and the conversation was lively at my Art Talk and Book signing Oct. 26, 2021, at Moody Jones Gallery in Glenside, PA. Thanks to all who attended, including Vernoca L. Michael from the Paul Robeson House & Museum and Linda Wright Moore who put me in touch with gallery owner Adrian Moody (he’s the one who introduced me to art teacher Ruth Bridges, whom I wrote about.
My book “ART WITH HEART: How I Built a Sweet Collection by Buying Cheap at Auction” is available at amazon.com.
I’ll be offering another book signing on Oct. 17, 2021. at 2 pm at the Robeson House, 4951 Walnut St., Philadelphia, where I am a volunteer. I’ll share some of my artwork, talk about the artists who created it, relate my experience of bidding and buying at auction and share some lessons I learned, including determining the value of your art and caring for it. If you’ve already bought a book, I’d love to sign it.
My book signing is the second part of a members exchange between the Robeson House & the Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia. Vernoca will appear at the Woodmere on Oct. 9, 2021, at 2pm to offer a personal side of her “Uncle Paul.” Her family was very close to Robeson and his sister Marian Forsythe, whom he lived with for the last 10 years of his life in West Philadelphia.
