When I first saw the wrought iron piece, I wasn’t sure what it was or how it was used. It was decorative with a daisy flower displayed on the top, but it looked medieval.
It had rockers on the bottom, which gave me some hint of its function. But I still wasn’t sure. The piece was in the second row of three long rows of items on the back lot of the auction house. So I knew I had to wait a bit before it came up for sale. I ventured inside the auction house to check out the other items.
When the auctioneer finally came to the metal piece, I listened attentively.
He announced its name in the same rhythmic monotone that he‘d done with everything else on the lot. It sold for $75. What do you think it is? Click on the second photo for the answer.
