Name the group this application belongs to

Posted in Guess what it is

I was surveying the items on the top shelf of the glass case at the auction house, looking for something of interest when out of the corner of my eye I saw it.

The “it” was a symbol and a name that I knew much too well. Both have left an indelible stain on the history of this country and were a menace to the people they terrorized.

They were at the top of an application form, and I asked the auction-house attendant to take it out of the case so I could see it closely. He was as disdainful of it as I was, and uneasily joked about it. The application was seeking the membership of a particular type of person in the 1920s. Some of the questions were innocuous, while others were very pointed.

It was a living testament to the fact that you can find anything at auction.

Take a look at the application. What group do you think it represents? Click on the photo to find the answer.
